History 

Georgia is a country rich in natural resources and proud of its cultural and religious history. The official language of Georgia is Georgian. The Georgian Christian Orthodox religion is the country�s principal religion. Georgia is also the country of painting and jevelry. Georgia was invaded by the Soviet Union in 1921 and remained a republic of the USSR for seventy years. Regaining its independence in 1991, Georgia become a democratic republic. Its current president, Eduard Shevardnadze.

The mountainous territories of Georgia complements its natural resource base because of its location (bordering the blacksea and Turkey).

Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia.

Company

The Georgian singing and Dancing company � �Shavlego� is leaded by an honoured artist of Georgia Ivan Tarielashvili. the group was created in 1979 in Gori, with the talented students.

�Shavlego� is one of the folk-role ensebmles which has ancient polyphonic songs and dances in its program. The company is satted with young lads and maids. The duration of the ensemble�s concert is two hours.

This group is composed of breathtaking Georgian artists � men, women and children. It is also breathking jamps, saber fights, dizzying waltz, technical prowess, moving choirs and stirring musical composition and conduction.

The songs and dances are confluanced with each other, and every item has its own past and content depending on which province�s song or dance is performed. Every province of Georgia has its different costume and content. In the dances, there is showed clearly a Georgian man/s character: a georgian women�s delicacy and man�s knightood and their modest relationship between each other. Next dances are brought in the program: wedding dance, which expresses a wedding ritual, mountainous province�s dance between a boy and girl, �Alvanuri, a fighting dance �Ferkhuli-khorumi�, a dance in which a man invites a woman to dance, it is called �Mipatigeba�. High mountanous province svaneti�s dance �Gguruli� an old city�s pictures� dance �Kintauri�. Alpine mountaineers� dance with swords�Farikaoba� and many others. Also a vocal group performs church hymns, the group performs love and poliphonic songs too. 

This group�s activity is wide and intensive both, in Georgia and abroad. They appear in many Europian countries. 

�Shavlego� means the song about Georgian national heroe. 

The group appearance was very successful. The group�s perfomance is distinguished with academic manner, masterly technique, harmony, variety of styles, it is bright and emotional.
